Welcome

Welcome to our blog. Our family has recently embarked on an incredible journey. We have moved from our small town in the United States to a large city in Southeast Asia. The adjustments are going to be many and we want to share our adventure with you. We have been led to this country with a two fold purpose. Kenny will begin honing his photography skills and put them to work. And of course, as followers of Chri$t, we pray that we will be salt and light to those we encounter and build relationships with along the way. We hope you enjoy our journey and come back often!

The Diligent Ant

I was out trying some new Photography techniques on some ants. Ethan and Kenna put some bread out this morning to feed the ants. I sat and watched them carry pieces of bread that were at least twice their size. Some worked extremely hard to move the bread and some just took small pieces they could carry easily to the hole. The ones with the small piece would go back and forth to the bread. This looked exhausting. The ones with the large piece would not give up on pulling and dragging it toward the hole. This looked exhausting as well. Either way, they both had a task to carry out and they both performed it with diligence. No matter what obstacles were in the way, they kept moving toward their goal. It's no wonder that our Lord would point out this act of nature and told us to look toward the ant.

Proverbs 30:24-25

25 Ants are creatures of little strength,
yet they store up their food in the summer;

The ant knows its task and works at it till it's done. There is no complaining or arguing among each other. No matter how big the task looks or is. They took on the challenge and the reward was life. Without the food, the ant would die.
Isn't that what we as followers of Christ are to do? There is a common task at hand, glorifying our God. We should be diligent in helping each other and helping those in need. We are of one body and the body cannot function as it should without all the members working together. True, there are times when the task is hard, but if we help each other and are diligent in completing it, the reward is eternal. Christ told us to store up our treasures in Heaven:

Matthew 6: 19-20

19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

How are we to store our treasures or even obtain the treasures? First, you have to be a follower of Christ. Next, it's simple, OBEY!!! Simply obey the word of God and his call on your life. No matter if you are moving the small piece of bread and taking many trips, or the one carrying the largest load. Obey God and stick to the task.
Remember, we are here to glorify our Lord and SAVIOR!! We are not our own any longer. We had a debt that could not have been paid by our own actions or deeds. So out of love (a selfless love) God sent His only son to pay that price for us. The cost? His life! That's right...His life for ours. He gave His life so we could have eternal life. All we have to do is believe.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him WILL have eternal life.

If you have never believed in Jesus as your savior, today is as good as any. If you feel God pulling at your heart…. respond! If you have already believed in Jesus, then be like the ant and be diligent in the work of God.
