In our old neighborhood our we lived about two blocks over from a m0sque. When it was time for the call to pryer it rang through our house loud and clear. In our new house, we don't hear it anymore unless we are outside. Below is a photo of the m0sque from the roof of our old house.
Today Kenny is subbing for Ethan's teacher. Of course, we realized late last night that we did not have bread for lunches this morning. So, today I had to walk to the store to buy some bread so I could make everyone lunch. (We only have one car.) Then, I had to walk to take the lunches to the school. It is only about a ten or fifteen minute walk, so it is not too bad.
On the way, I walked through our old neighborhood. Of course, it was time for the afternoon call to pryer. I was suddenly reminded of the lostness that surrounds me. Even before we moved, we had gotten so accustomed to hearing it, that we didn't "hear" it anymore. When we first came, it was a reminder for us to pr@y as well. How quickly we let life get in the way of "hearing" what our Father is trying to show us and teach us. I have been deeply convicted the past few days of my mediocre pryer life. Hearing the call today as I walked was just like our Father's way of reenforcing what He has already been telling me.
