Welcome

Welcome to our blog. Our family has recently embarked on an incredible journey. We have moved from our small town in the United States to a large city in Southeast Asia. The adjustments are going to be many and we want to share our adventure with you. We have been led to this country with a two fold purpose. Kenny will begin honing his photography skills and put them to work. And of course, as followers of Chri$t, we pray that we will be salt and light to those we encounter and build relationships with along the way. We hope you enjoy our journey and come back often!

Driving Lessons

Over here, driving a car is incredibly stressful and dangerous even for those of us who have been driving for years. Bre, according to policy, is not allowed to drive over seas, which is fine with me because she has not fear and is does not fully understand the consequences of accidents here. Now, having said all of that, "motorcycles" are completely different here. They are the transportation of choice. So, in order for us to have another mode of transportation, we bought a vespa…they are the cheapest thing around and cheap to work on.
Here is Bre getting a lesson on how to drive it. Before the grandparents panic, she will not actually be allowed to drive it in major traffic, just around this particular neighborhood.
Today Daniel and some of Ethan's friends went with us for her lesson. Daniel didn't quite appreciate being slapped in the face with her hair during his ride.
So, being the thoughtful, compassionate young lady that she is, she put it in a pony tail for the next round.
While the big kids were practicing, the little kids played at the playground and climbed up and down this hill.
I couldn't resist this…this little boy is practicing his driving as well. He looked like he was maybe eight or ten. He was one of about three little boys that were riding around while Bree was practicing! (Very few of the bikes here are automatics!)
It was a beautiful day to be out except that it was HOT!!! We took a cooler with some water bottles to help keep the boys cool…they decided the ice pack that was in the cooler worked better!
Of course, here is Kenna being totally "contextual" riding home on the Vespa with Kenny, sitting "side saddle" and drinking her water like she grew up on one!
Here is a short video of Bre's driving lesson. She did really good. On a vespa, you change gears on the handle bars, not with your feet, so it is a little difficult to get the hang of…but she succeeded!
