Welcome

Welcome to our blog. Our family has recently embarked on an incredible journey. We have moved from our small town in the United States to a large city in Southeast Asia. The adjustments are going to be many and we want to share our adventure with you. We have been led to this country with a two fold purpose. Kenny will begin honing his photography skills and put them to work. And of course, as followers of Chri$t, we pray that we will be salt and light to those we encounter and build relationships with along the way. We hope you enjoy our journey and come back often!

Request

The last two months have been very challenging for us. It started several weeks ago when I (Alicia) came down with a UTI. It took a week or more for that to finally clear up, but in the meantime, I had previously volunteered to sub for a couple of the teachers at school. In the middle of subbing, we also had Kenna's birthday/sleepover party. The last day I subbed at school, Kenna came home not feeling well and started running a fever that night that lasted for nine days. It was a week of picking up missed class work and doing it at home.

When she finally started on an antibiotic and started feeling better we kept a friend's son for a few days while they were out of town. He went home on a Saturday and Sunday I started coming down with what Kenna had…the flu/bronchitis. The next week, Ethan started with the same symptoms. Ethan seemed to heal quickly, so he only missed a couple of days of school…of course it helped that they had fall break that week! When I thought it was behind me, I agreed to sub again for a teacher who was going on a "M" trip for a week. Well, it wasn't quite behind me or Ethan. He ended up missing a couple more days of school that week while we started him on an antibiotic. Unfortunately, this has also caused his asthma to flair up again for the first time in three years. So we are also treating his asthma aggressively trying to get him past this phase.

So, I thought we were finally over the hump. Then, this morning, I woke up to the lovely symptoms of an amoeba. I was beyond less than thrilled! And now, I'm not so sure it is an amoeba after all because Kenna is having my same symptoms and she is sitting on the couch now with a trash can in her lap…my poor, poor baby!

So, the point of this story…we need pr@yers right now. We are sick and tired of being sick and tired! It is amazing how this has affected our routines normal behavior and attitudes. We are just ready to get back to the normal that we have here and even more ready to find our new normal back in the states!

Thank you for your pr@yers. Continue to lift Kenna and myself up through out the day today, but also pr@y for Ethan as he has an all-day futsal/soccer tournament tomorrow and is still wheezing!
