Welcome to our blog. Our family has recently embarked on an incredible journey. We have moved from our small town in the United States to a large city in Southeast Asia. The adjustments are going to be many and we want to share our adventure with you. We have been led to this country with a two fold purpose. Kenny will begin honing his photography skills and put them to work. And of course, as followers of Chri$t, we pray that we will be salt and light to those we encounter and build relationships with along the way. We hope you enjoy our journey and come back often!

Play Ball!

For those of you who are faithful to check our blog everyday for new posts, I am so sorry I have fallen down on the job lately. My excuse for not posting this past week is that I've been subbing at the school all week. It is always nice to be up at the school and in that environment, but after a week of having to be there at 7:25 (I'm NOT a morning person…don't really start functioning until at least 8) and not getting home until 4, I'm pretty wiped out.

But then Saturday the kids had friends over in the morning and then we went to watch Ethan's final two games in the futsal (indoor soccer) tournament. They played two games last weekend and two games this weekend. The games today were really good, but the last one was the best! We have grown to love soccer!

Quotes from the Kids

Found a Skype message from Ethan and Kenna to their nana: Nana: what are you doing up? Ethan and Kenna: We're trying to stay up all night to be ready for jet lag in America; please don't tell mommy and daddy. Nana: No problem. Ethan and Kenna: We love you! Nana: I love you both too. You are going to be real tired before you leave. It's four more days, right? Ethan and Kenna: I think so. But don't worry, we go to bed when the sun comes up.
Ethan: "Momma, I think a lot of people just memorize Bible verses but don't act them out!"
Kenna was asking us questions the other night comparing different cities in our country, then she asked, "Which city do you think has more people, Moscow or Surabaya?" Kenny: "Where did Moscow come from?" Kenna: "Uhm….Russia!"
Kenna: "Uhh…you didn't buy me any seaweed again!" after going through the grocery bags
Bre: "Un hunkenshein svlovaich. Oh…I see!" Yep, she speaks German in her sleep…and understands it!
Bre telling me about her and her ex possibly getting back together: "Right now we're just praying about and waiting on the 'okay' from God."
Bre's friend had emergency surgery for an appendicitis and she was talking to another friend about it on the phone to see how she was doing. Bree- "…call me when she's "IN" conscious."
Bre: "I think I'm having a coffee decline." We think she meant she was crashing.
Kenny was talking about being a little frustrated sitting at the office and not being able to understand everything being said: Kenny - "I get tired of just sitting there." Kenna - "So stand up!"
Ethan: "Bre, I bet Daniel struggles to be your boyfriend."
Kenna: "Bre, you're always first. The Bible says the first will be last and the last will be first. So in Heaven I will get to be first!"
On the way to the beach Ethan rolled down his window. His friend, Seung Wan, told him, "People are staring at you because you are yellow!"
Ethan went to a pajama birthday party at a local Japanese restaurant this weekend. On the way home from the party, "We were gonna have a pillow fight but too many vases."
Bre: "Daddy, we really need to get your hearers checked." (She swears she said ears, but everyone in the car heard "hearers.)
Kenna cut her finger at the mall today so we had to buy Smiley Face bandaids, "But that is not how I feel. I feel sad!"
Lying in bed with Kenna the other night having a quiet moment before bed: Me, "Mommy loves you, Kenna." Kenna, "I love you too Mommy; even though sometimes I just want to strangle you!" Where has she heard THAT before!?
Kenna: "We have a horrible daddy. He bought his coffee but forgot to buy our milk!"
Ethan: Alicia took out some medicine (in pill form) to take for her sinus infection and Ethan asked what they were. Alicia told him they were for her sinuses. Ethan's response "do you suck them up your nose?" That was a much needed laugh!
Kenna, after buying a ring watch with her Christmas money, "See, it's cute and functional!"
Ethan, "He has anger management issues!"
Kenna, still sick, looking at the calendar, "I can't be sick this week, my schedule is too full!"
We bought Bre's dress for her 1920's themed Christmas party. While at the mall we ran into her boyfriend and his family, so we all met for lunch. When Bre's boyfriend sat down, Kenna picked up the very small bag Bre's dress was in…her boyfriend's response, "You're dress is in THAT!?!"
Kenna's teacher, talking about prayer, "We serve a living G0d. The G0d of Joshua who made the sun stand still…" Kenna, "Actually He would have made the earth stand still because the sun doesn't move anyway!"
"Come on guys, act like real men and throw the ball straight." Kenna, while playing baseball with her Daddy and Ethan.
Kenna, After eating Doritos, which we don't have here, and being told to wipe her hands with her napkin, "Are you kidding, I'm not wasting these babies!" Then licked her fingers clean.
Bre, walking in a mall in Singapore, "I can't wait to get back to school!"
Kenna, "I don't have a lot of friends but I know a lot of people so I'm never lonely!"
Kenna again, this time talking with me while she was sick this week, "Why did God create sickness anyway?" As I sat trying to come up with a suitable answer she speaks up again. "I know, because if He didn't He wouldn't have all His names… He wouldn't be able to be called Healer!"
Kenna, sitting in her room tonight showing me how she drew a picture of Jesus in Art class today, "Sorry this is taking so long but perfection takes time!"
Ethan: "I don't know why they have so many speed bumps here, all this traffic takes care of that!"
Kenna, to some friends playing the WII with Ethan, "I will wear you out in real life, but Ethan will wear you out in this game!"
