I've recently gone back and started reading our blog from the beginning. It's been quite amusing. It's amazing how those things that used to amaze us have become so familiar now. Don't get me wrong, we still see things in traffic that make us say, "Did you see that?!" For example, the other day we saw two guys on a motorcycle carrying about five stackable chairs…not the plastic ones either, the ones with the metal frames and cushion backs and seats! The driver was sitting as far forward as possible and the guy in back who was holding the chairs was sitting on the very edge of the seat and leaning back. It was amazing watching them weave through traffic and drive through holes in the road. I wish we had a photo to show you, but we have simply stopped carrying our camera with us all the time like we used to…now it's just life in this city.
Anyway, as I was saying about the blog, I read a post about our first time attending our fellowship here. It brought back all the feelings I had that night. I remember feeling very foreign and alone and thinking I would never feel comfortable there. It's a fellowship made up of many nations, cultures, and denominations. I was overwhelmed back then and being there just didn't feel like home.
Now, I have grown to love that fellowship and the people so very much. They have become our family since we've been here. They are always an encouragement. They are very much His hands and feet and heart to one another…exactly what the body of Chr!st is supposed to be. It doesn't matter anymore that we all come from different places…we are brothers and sisters and it has been my absolute privilege and honor and blessing to be a part of this fellowship!
I would like for you to meet them and maybe get a small glimpse of the personality of our group. The video is of a service we had a few weeks before Christmas. It was a very impromptu presentation of the Nativity Story…all ad-libbed of course.
We head back home in a few months now and as much as we are ready to be home, we are going to miss this group of people so very much!
