Welcome

Welcome to our blog. Our family has recently embarked on an incredible journey. We have moved from our small town in the United States to a large city in Southeast Asia. The adjustments are going to be many and we want to share our adventure with you. We have been led to this country with a two fold purpose. Kenny will begin honing his photography skills and put them to work. And of course, as followers of Chri$t, we pray that we will be salt and light to those we encounter and build relationships with along the way. We hope you enjoy our journey and come back often!

Some Weekend Fun

There is a large expat community that lives in our city.  This past weekend a friend hosted a celebration of the nations represented.  There are seventeen countries represented in our city.
The event started with games.  In the gym (the event was held at the school), there were games for the younger kids.  Out on the "football pitch" (soccer field) there was Ultimate Frisbee!  It's the first time Ethan has gotten to play all summer.

He and his buddy are discussing the game plan for the next game.

After the game there was a parade of flags.  The kids marched the flag of each country while commentators gave facts about each country.  It was really quite entertaining!

Bree and Kenna were two of the flag bearers.

Kenna carried the flag of Cyprus.

Bree carried the Dutch flag.  She was thrilled since her best friend is Dutch and just moved to Holland last week!
After the flag parade they served hotdogs, but not like the usual hotdogs we get here.  They were hotdogs ordered from Bali and they were very good!  You even got your choice of toppings…everything from onions and relish to chili.  It was quite a treat!

Then it was time for the fireworks.  It was great.  It's not that often that you get to sit a mere 50 yards from where the fireworks are being shot off!

 They were great.

I know it wasn't the plan or purpose behind this celebration but it felt like a fourth of July get together back home. It just made us all the more ready to be back home and be with friends and family…although we will miss our friends here, who have become like family, terribly!
